Women who Travel
Private Group active 1 year agoThis group is to provide information and community to women who travel. Solo travel can be intimidating, no matter your gender. Where should I stay? Will I be safe? How do I even begin to do it? However, in my experience, more women worry about safety when traveling alone than men. And that’s not just a stereotype because statistics show that online searches for “solo female travel” grew by 52% between 2016 and 2017. Women are looking for the best way to travel alone. In March 2019 the New York Times covers the risks and rewards of women traveling alone in their article “Adventurous. Alone. Attacked”. There is no doubt that there are risks when traveling, but whether you’re traveling alone or with a friend, safety and preparation is crucial. This is a space to discuss these things. Here we can give safety tips, provide recommendations, and encourage other women to get out of their comfort zone and explore! I think you’ll find that the world is a safer place than you thought!
